David M. Smith, Chairman Emeritus and Founder of Chemical Exchange Industries (CXI), Inc. and Texmark Chemicals, Inc., died in Houston, Texas on Sunday morning, November 19, 2017. He was 85 years old.

His strong and steadfast faith was the foundation of his life; and, his commitment to his wife and family was paramount. He lived in kindness, forgiveness, respect, sharing, and honesty. To the very end, Mr. Smith was grateful for each member of the Texmark team and, as always, he was looking for that next profitable deal he and the team could make happen. He was the epitome of an entrepreneur. And he liked to have fun working.

A service celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 11:00am, South Main Baptist Church, Houston, Texas.
