No injuries reported. Texmark has reported the updated spill estimate of 1,190 gallons of DCPD (dicyclopentadiene) to the City of Galena Park, Harris County Pollution Control Services, US Coast Guard, TCEQ, and all other proper authorities. The sheen on the surface of Panther Creek remains contained. Additional booms are on standby in the event of rain. Containment, air monitoring, and clean-up continue.
On Thursday, August 5, 2021, at approximately 2:15 AM, Texmark Chemicals, Inc., located in Galena Park, Texas, spilled an estimated 100-gallons of DCPD (dicyclopentadiene). There were no injuries reported. An odor and sheen was detected on the surface of Panther Creek. All proper authorities were notified, and the local community was notified via e-Notify. Containment of the sheen has been initiated via booms and clean-up is in progress. Updates will be provided when needed.
