DCPD (dicyclopentadiene) is a colorless liquid with a camphor-like odor. DCPD is the dimer of CPD (cyclopentadiene), with the formula of C10H12. DCPD is found in the coproduct streams from the production of ethylene.

DCPD is used in the manufacturing process of items like:

  • Fiberglass boat hulls
  • Shower stalls
  • Bathtubs
  • Adhesives
  • Inks
  • Flame retardants
  • Certain kinds of polyester products
  • Pesticides
  • Automobile parts
  • Fragrances

Texmark recovers DCPD through the use of fractional distillation. DCPD is sold in multiple grades or customer-specific specifications. Examples include: hydrocarbon resin grade (70-80% DCPD), polyester grade (80-88% DCPD), and HP9 (>90% DCPD). The product is sold in ships, barges, isocontainers, railcars, and tank trucks.
